Which trek in Europe is more widely spoken of or better known than the GR20? Simply google "GR20" to find a multitude of web sites offering the tales and experiences of hundreds of people. It is not an accident that this path has achieved such fame....
Created in 1972 by the Regional Natural Reserve (ie. National Park) of Corsica to allow walking enthusiasts to discover the beautiful interior of Corsica, this path has grown in popularity every year. Nowadays the people passing on this grand trek are counted in their thousands. Naturally it requires increasingly focused organization by the park authorities and those deriving their livelihood from it.
The 200 or so kms which make up the GR offer a great variety of walks and a wide range of fantastic awesome landscapes. The diverse flowers, birds and animals (you might see a mouflon if you're lucky!), encounters with local shepherds or hikers from as far away as New Zealand, or the sensation of walking across the roof of the world are some of the many magical moments which you will take home as souvenirs of an unforgettable adventure.
